Sony, the most trusted electronics brand has come up with one more powerful amplified subwoofer last month. The latest 10inch active subwoofer, Sony SA-CS9 has impressive specifications on paper. Also within few days in to market, the model started selling like hot cake. We got a chance to review this compact subwoofer and find out if it’s worth a buy. Here’s our Sony SACS9 review to help you decide whether this model can be part of your wish list.
The powerful subwoofer comes impressive 115W dynamic power. The quality of output was really enjoyable. We played with this model more than the time we usually spend with testing speaker systems. If you’re already using any other low cost sub-woofers, then you will surely notice a difference. The sound output was great for a medium sized room. The unit is self-powered, it has a built-in amp and separate amp or powered sub output.
The plastic used in this model is not cheap and has superior finish the feels good to touch. The unit looks premium and the built-quality too inspire confidence. The external is about 18.6 x 14.8 x 17.2 inches and weighs about 21 pounds. The model didn't take much of our time after opening the box, it was easy to plug in and start using it. Two knobs are provided on backside for cut-off frequency and volume level adjustments. There also switches for auto power off and phase change settings. Nothing much innovation was done by Sony when it comes to design.
Overall, Sony SA-CS9 redefines the term ‘value for money’ and is certainly a best subwoofer you can buy at this price tag. Apparently, Sony’s intent was to offer best home cinema sound experience at a relatively lower price, and we feel the model has succeeded in that. If you're looking for a good quality sub-woofer, one that will fill a small to medium sized room with rich bass and you're not looking to rout out your neighbors, the Sony SACS9 will certainly do the job.
